The Smiths were, and still are, one of the most important and influential bands in the last 30 years. Why people bleat on about the Beatles having any musical impact on others....i cant answer that myself really, i just hate the beatles.
Morrissey, odd ball, yes, genius..almost definitely. His choice of lyrics absorbing, amusing, never ever dull, thought provoking, controversial, original overall. His mood and image foppish, camp, retarded and yest sophiticated, strangely interesting and guarded.
Johnny Marr, a complete and utter legend of a guitar player, you dont have to play the guitar with your teeth to be a genius, jimi hendrix did and he karked it, oh , and he was fucking shit!.
